Obviously after recording our demo we've been on a high. We've also been trialing a new guitarist, so there's been a fair bit of frustration at our apparent stagnation. We agreed to play a gig for Nuventure, which would be our first (and hopefully last if we sort out our guitarist issues) as a three piece. We turned up to the Mitre last night, which to be honest is a massively underwhelming venue, to see a decent crowd had turned up. Unfortunately the habit of fans coming to see one band and leaving seems to be spreading, and each band in turn seemed to play to the people they had brought with them, and when they left the crowd left with them too, only to be replaced by the next band's crowd. So yes, finally a word from the girl in the band. I know there are plenty of bands out there with girls in them, but none that have the sheer pleasure of putting up with the likes of Rich and Kie. I love them both dearly, but they are certainly lad's lads when it comes to talk of boobs, beer and God knows what else regardless of whether I'm in the room or not. But things couldn't be better. I actually quite enjoy being considered "one of the lads" when it comes to the chat. It certainly gives you an insight into what they really think. In fact, after our time in the studio together (virtually locked in a room for 5 days with no windows and an outdoor kitchen), we've bonded, if you can call it that. This time it's Kieran writing, not Rich. When we came out the studio I wasn't happy! I loved the whole experience and the lifestyle it has to offer. No college, no stress. Just the band, our instruments and the music. What more can I ask for? I managed to record my drum parts rather quickly and was left with nothing much to do for the other four days but I was still able to input my view and enjoyed watching Rich and Linds record their parts. After the studio it was time for the photo shoot for the demo cover. It went well and the finished product looks pretty god damn good, thanks to Rich and Linds. Phew. What a couple of days! We started 6.30am Saturday morning, getting up meeting Mark Jefferies (our photographer) and Sarah Freeman (our model) and set out to Stoke-On-Trent train station to try and capture my idea for the the EP cover. Being as we're calling the EP Narcolepsy Baby (also one of the tracks on the EP) I wanted to get an image of a girl sitting on a bench as the world blurred past her, sort of capturing her in her own moment. We arrived at the station at 9am, and we only had permission to shoot until 10am (basically when the station gets busy) so we set to work. It was fucking freezing. Getting ready for the EP photoshoot tomorrow, am looking forward to seeing my idea come to life. I'm shocked at how hard it is to get permission to shoot at a train station; I approached 4, 2 ignored me, 1 said no, and finally, Stoke-On-Trent Station said yes. (Thanks Stoke). The shoot is being done by a photographer I know, a certain Mark Jefferies, and using Sarah Freeman as the model and main focal point, if it all comes together how I envision it (which it probably won't!) it'll look great. I'll post the image here as soon as it's done - we're still awaiting the fully mastered version of the demo too, will probably get here next week, and the new www.rhesusrock.com site should be finished by the end of next week.
