Hello again, Lindsay here.
So it’s been a couple weeks. Our sincerest of apologies! We never want to let our readers down, but when I tell you what’s been going on, I’m sure you’ll find it in your heart to forgive us.
In my last blog, I told you to stay tuned, and I refuse to let you down. Rhesus has not only been moving forward, but we’re picking up pace now.
Our great friend DJ Andy Nash from (97.2) Beacon Radio has played our music a multitude of times on his shows over the past couple weeks. Andy is on Monday through Friday from 1pm, and Saturday from 8am. You can tune in on your way home from work, or if you’re already home at that point, stream it live on your pc! And don’t forget to text in and let him know what you think.
Aside from the greatly appreciated support from Andy, we’ve also been actively putting ourselves up for everything and anything we can, (something a lot of unsigned bands know they need to do in order to “get noticed”). We’ve been signing up for gigs, radio votes to win studio time, festivals, and just like a job interview, you send out your CV to whoever you can, you’re bound to get a good response. And a good response is what Rhesus got!
Kie was contacted by a rep from a festival in Derby saying we had made it through the short listing of radio votes and we were awarded the slot before the headliners on day 3 (main day) of the festival.
We then check out the headlining band to see what they’re like and notice they’re booked to be playing in somewhere like Finland on the same day. Maybe if they were playing another gig in Nottingham, or Mansfield, or even Leicester, they could swing the travel time and make it. But Finland?? Unless they have a private jet and a good 20 roadies, I couldn’t see it happening.
Needless to say, we got another call back about 30 minutes later saying that the order of the gig had been changed and we had been moved up to…you guessed it…HEADLINERS!!!
Can you feel my excitement? Yeah. We’re headlining a 3-day festival. I cannot wait. And when I say I cannot wait, I know I’m speaking for all the lads as well.
Anywho, if you’re in the area, willing to travel to the area, or you’re just curious to see who else is playing over that weekend, you can find all the info here: http://www.virtualfestivals.com/ripley-music-festival-2009/ OR here: http://www.myspace.com/ripleymusicfestival
That’s the great news thus far, HOWEVER, you may be asking yourself, “Oi, Linz, the title says, ‘Radio and festivals and Interviews’ you’ve covered the radio, the festival, but what about the interview??” Well my friends, rest assured it did not slip my mind. As headliners we have been asked to go for an interview on Derby’s local radio station to “big up” the festival, and of course, we are more than excited to do so.
If you will permit me to let my over enthusiastic confidence overtake me just for one moment, I would like to suggest you come to see is play while they tickets are still cheap, because if things keep going the way they have been, in another 12 months, you may have to pay a lot more than £6 to see us.
Okay, ego trip over. Thanks, needed to get that out.
That’s all for now. I’ll be sure to keep you up to date more often, promise.
